Who is Finneas.
A fair question, especially when you string out the feline's name with all the monikers earned to him over the years: Dar, the clever thief, jo, the wily scholar, Captain, the leader of a ruthless crew of blades, of pirates. Captain Dar'Finneas-jo.
He bears many scars, most hidden by the silks and sometimes leathers he wears (depending what he's up to) but with a distinctive one, a slash across the tawny fur of his nose. Likewise, he wears a good amount of jewelry, but almost never on his hands; earrings, or the occasional circlet, however, glint at his ears and brow.
He walks like an arrogant sailor – a sway of someone used to a rolling deck and not solid ground, or perhaps it's just a teasing swagger, and you may see him winking slyly at you over his shoulder.
He talks like a sailor, too. One would expect the usual odd third-person patter typical of a khajiit, the thick Elsweyr accent, but no. Finneas speaks like a man born and bred to the sea, a man who spends his time with other such ilk, a thick accent indeed but spattered with colorful phrases and butchered words.
He smokes. Like a chimney. If you're in the khajiit's presence very long, you will surely see him fiddling with, or otherwise packing and lighting the pipe he carries around – a meerschaum naked lady, with the carved tresses of her hair forming the bowl. Anyone who is khajiit, or exceedingly familiar with them, might recognize the scent of his tobacco as yidjeme, a brightleaf variety native to Elsweyr – expensive to procure anywhere else.
Blackjack and hookers – no, seriously. The cat likes gambling and he loves pretty women, of almost any persuasion, men too. It's anyone's guess what will intrigue him, but if you run or frequent casinos or brothels, you may have chanced across his path.
Writs: Unknown to the wide majority, but if you're affiliated with the Morag Tong, or the Brotherhood, you may have worked with him and his crew or crossed their path (Tong) or clashed with him and his (Brotherhood)
Piracy: If you sail, or it's your solemn duty in life to end piratical scum and hang 'em high, you have a reason to have heard of, know, or possibly be attempting to apprehend and kill Finneas, depending on your connection to sailors and pirates.
Crime: The cat is a thief. He's a thief, he's a killer, he's a lock-picker, someone for whom few doors remain barred nor safe places unopened or violated. If there's some crime afoot, he's probably committed it, even slavery, which can sometimes be a sticking point if you ask about his past.
Luxury: The feline has expensive tastes – any rum will get you drunk, but the finest is a song to your palate. Any old cloth will do to cover nudity, but the best feels and fits like a second skin, and can array you for a vision of beauty or mask a thousand flaws. Tobacco can be found all over Tamriel, but yidjeme is his favorite, and that can only be found in Elsweyr, prepared in a particular fashion and of course involving moonsugar –a great luxury anywhere that is not its place of origin, and one of the cat's few concessions that he is, in fact, Khajiit. If you deal in luxury goods or frequent dealers in fine wine, goods, smokes, etcetera, you may have reason to recognize the cat.
That good ol' black magic: Yes, magic. He has no small control of fire magic, and has had years to learn all sorts of dark, delicious, deviant things from his time as a Telvanni possession. If you're a mage or alchemist, or Telvanni, or even just a dirty House mer, you may have crossed his path.
OOC note: His affiliation with the Tong is not at all widely known, so unless your character is with the Morag Tong, please bear that in mind. As far as any of the other hooks, if you want your character to have known or crossed paths with Finn, please feel free to talk to me!
