Graf's Teeth Disappearances
Fredas, 15h of Sun's Dawn 2E 587
Upon receiving orders from the Baron of Aspern, Decentius' guardsmen ventured into the lush greenery of Graf's Teeth woods. The soldiers' primary goal would be to discover the whereabouts of the missing trio, Xander Sallustius, Ysabel Loire, and Aerin Cipius. After an initial search, the men found remnants of a makeshift civilian camp. Presumably, the three decided to host their own after party in the woods. It appeared the group decided to skinny dip near the river bank with bellies full of Colovian Brandy. An extravagant dress fitting the description of what Ysabel Loire, renowned Imperial instrumentalist, was last seen wearing was found discarded on the muddy riverbank.
Had the attractive musician enticed her male companions with more than an entertaining melody?
After surveying the area, Sabrina noticed three sets of fresh tracks. She believed the footprints belonged to the unaccounted individuals. To the Baron's dismay, the sun began its descent across the cloud-dotted skies. Curtly, he ordered camp be made and informed his men their search would have to continue early the next morning. After a hearty meal, most retired to their tents for what they hoped would be a peaceful slumber.
Valoria Vulpin, the former tavern-keeper of The Wolf's Crest, lost her life in Graf's Teeth while hosting a Witches' Festival party. Some say, Graf's Teeth thirsts for blood. Had it claimed three more lives?
The Baron is not known for his patience and had his men up before first light. With only a campfire offering light, the men hastily gathered needed supplies and prepared to resume their search with fervor. About a mile upstream the search party encountered an overturned smashed boat caught on jagged rocks. Although the waters presently appeared calm, experienced river navigators knew how trickery the
Time is a precious resource. A resource that the people of House Decentius did not have. As Kastav harangued the many members of Moriens Stella, the Baron's behavior had grown increasingly erratic, affecting everyone in his company. From Tiberius noticing to the eccentricities to Lady Winmar's disappearance, the Baron began to replace sound and reasonable judgement with brutal violence to ensure the people that inhabited his barony remained fearful and loyal to his rule. Yet for all of his eccentricities and changers in demeanor the Baron had retained some previous normalcy and ordered searches for the hidden ancestor. Little progress had been made and the failure of that progress culminated into fire on the 22nd of Sun's Dawn, 2E 588. The Baron had been incapacitated on his throne, whilst agents of Kastav had come and slaughtered the few guards on station with the majority of the staff and servants in the main hall of Moriens Stella.
They came, the loyalists, a party of them. Sabrina, Tiberius, Bjarke and Tyr came to see the carnage and made their rounds to see what caused. The Baron couldn't be roused from his inactive state, the cold touches of death gripping him but not fully wrapping around his body just yet. They tried to make it through but the only thing they had noticed was that the traditional Cold-Fires surrounding the throne were partially out. As they moved to touch him to release the hold, Kastav's spirit came back once more, creating a wall of fire. It was then that Tiberius had with his geniousness attempted to wade through the fire wall by cooling his skin so that he may move with as little pain as possible. Though he tried great effort, it was a sore failure with Tiberius unable to move to the Baron and being blasted away by some unseen magickal force. Instead, the poor genius was burned lightly and himself dazed by the blasts.
A ruckus down the cellars had been made and the loyalists found agents of Kastav where a vicious fight began. Tyr himself had been hit some substance that had caused him to see everything with fearful eyes. Yet the battle had been won, bringing them to capture the lone survivor and descend down into the Crypts and graves of the ancestors. Kastav lurks, what else can be said?
Winter Was Here and It Was Cold
The winter months of 2E 587 and 588 have been a difficult time for the Decentii. Many have come and gone but those who've stayed have made a big impact in the Barony of Aspern. Many times over, has the Baron assembled his staff to deal with the disturbances of his ancestor Kastav Decentius who had made it his priority to retake his ancestral home and his rightful position as the Baron. Things would change however, more people came and the many issues surrounding the Baron, finally fell behind that of Kastav's.
Some come and the Baron had begun to rant and lecture the people of House Decentius many times over. Folk from all over like Scipio Drak, come to listen to his words and prove themselves of their worth. They were sent to the inner catacombs underneath Moriens Stella, where the previous Barons and Margravess of Aspern had been buried. All but the loyal turned back and refused to head down there, as there was no matter of making it through, to the inner sanctums.
Instead, Lady Caro had found something to open the way. Something unseen and dark. Sabrina discovered that the only way to move forward was to fill the stone bowl with blood. A sacrifice was in need, a blood sacrifice. One that was designed to weaken those who sought entry to the further depths of the crypts. So they picked Tiberius, Tiberius Valentus gave his blood to open the path forward. It had been rather obvious to see that the King of Rape had one figure who had changed this place. Bringing forth a different air than expected for the crypts underneath Moriens Stella.
Where they were greeted by the spectre of Kastav himself who tossed at them the reanimated. Skeletons and zombies of former slain volunteers and guardians of the tombs were bested by Sabrina and her followers. Yet they were forced to turn back and barricade the entrance to the crypts as Scipio had been badly injured and the amount of strength to press on dwindled.
So they returned topside, where an impatient Volund had heard of the news before launching another call to drive out the spectre. Talks had come that a town in the Barony of Altgrad was compromised. The cemetary, where generations of the town's dead were buried had been disturbed. Agents of Kastav dug the graves and took the bodies in the middle of the night, slaying the sentries and few guardsman awake in the earlier hours of the morning to avoid creating a scene. Such actions brought forth panic, causing Volund to have to take matters into his own hand in which he held a council among his few Rectors, Centurion Maginulf, and Lady Caro where they debated on what to do before ultimately deciding that they must scour the Crypts once and for all.
They tried a second time, pushing hard into the crypts as they fought of the living dead that had taken residence there. Even young Adamus Decentius had joined them. A young man who never fought with a sword before in his life, had been suited up and sent to join them. Arguments and misgivings a plenty, the boy pressed on with the group. Such desperation drawing strangers such as Armeria Kalinda to join them as well, a mage in her own right yet little know to the group. The Baron had indeed continued sending strangers to fix the problems as he could not make it in himself. Lighting the fires to signify that control was being retaken. Each time, the former Baron of Aspern taunting the lot of them and hampering the progress as they reached near the end of the exit. One of the most noteworthy incidents occurred when the younger Decentius had grown so fearful of fighting the undead that he indeed left the others behind as he decided to turn back. He earned the ire of the group, with many calling the young boy a coward and unworthy of succeeding Volund should he die. The Centurion even promising punishments for his cowardice! The punishments and threats promised were cut short by the bony arm of Kastav who had begun to slowly suffocate the life out of the younger Decentius by choking the poor boy to death.
Armeria and Taino tackled into the spectre, releasing Adamus from the death like grip of Kastav and ultimately saving his life. The entrance to the crypts were again blocked by unknown magics. They were forced to press forward, Marcus received wound, Sabrina even vomited all over the floors. Leaving the Centurion, as the only one able to fight alongside the mysterious mage Armeria, and Adamus the coward. The group eventually pushed onto the inner crypts where they made it to the room of where the Decentii were buried. Lags by Kastav and frequent attempts of attempting to enforce defections ended in failure for him so he tried to bury them all again, the group instead retreated as they could not risk their lives yet so they all fled. Leaving the crypts unfinished for a second time.
Yet in the absence of Centurion and Lady Caro, came forth the third with Armeria Kalinda and Bjarke the executioner. The soldier and mage traveled again inside where they spoke with the wraith who attempted to make a bargain with them. They would live or be trapped forever with him as he had forced them to stay inside by collapsing the hallway they came in from.
Leaving Armeria alone and trying to encourage Bjarke to defect to him. Kastav had spent hours talking with the nord on matters of honor, sacrifice, death, and the futility of serving Volund. Each time, the Nord valiantly refused, showing a trademark stubbornness and loyalty to Volund. But the armor of stubbornness began to crack as Kastav promised a slow and painful death to Armeria who had quietly hid away trying to find methods to escape. She in turn saw each coffin of the Decentii buried in the crypts ranging from Jovianus the warrior to Anastasius the grieved.
The mage reading each epitaph of the failures and accomplishments of the Barons of Aspern. She finally made it to that of Kastav who himself had been buried in. His body, covered in magic in a coffin next to another that remained empty. The mage pondered as to what to do escape and as Kastav finally noticed that she had not been in the same proximity as he and the stubborn nord were in. He called out for her, searching all over for throughout the inner crypts until finally finding that she was near his coffin. Seeing what she was about too do, the elder Decentius yelled in rage and anger as she had fired a hefty bolt of magic onto his beloved body. An impact was made, knocking her into the walls and causing her to bleed from the wound she received to her head when her head had hit the rock.
A master plan of returning ruined, the elder Decentius had returned to a state of life but not as he had desired. He had come into a smoldered, rotten, and charred form of flesh filled with the depths of hate and malice that were hidden within his very core. He had come to kill the mage that took from him, the chance of coming in his prime. Only to be stopped by Bjarke who had come to save her. The Nord had even gone to the pains and depths to light his own skin on fire to burn away the zombified Kastav who charged towards them. Obtaining a serious bite to his hand but pushing back the elder Decentius, Bjarke had been forced to enter into his lycanthropic state of being a werewolf to save himself and Armeria. Ripping off the elder Decentius' hand and jumping downwards into the estuary of the Brena river. The pair escaping a death from Kastav but falling hundreds of feet into water. The third attempt had been made to drive him out.
Perhaps the fourth time is indeed the try?
The Wolf's Crest: The Festival of Laughs
Social Night Summary
Fredas, 5th of Rain's Hand 2E 587
"Clip-clop, clip-clop." Announced the arrival of an animated jester dressed in brightly colored silks that pretended to gallop through the streets of Kvatch on a hobby horse. The lively rider mimicked the lifelike sounds of a horse and occasionally stopped to hand out fanciful fliers to interested people. A high pitched neighing sound was heard as the jester departed to the next destination.
A Jester's Feast
On Fredas, the 5th of Rain's Hand, a trio of incorrigible jesters ushered patrons towards the stocked bar and well-lit dining areas of The Wolf's Crest Tavern. They worked together with Plays-With-Foods, a -chef -at -large, to come up with the exclusive menu that was only available during The Festival of Laughs. Every tavern visitor was presented with this menu and encouraged to play with their menu orders by the jesters.
Spoiler: Menu SpoilerShow
Few dared to try Swine's Swig and Glutton's Guzzle, even through the jester insisted it would delight their senses.
Hungry guests patiently wait for Plays-With-Foods to deliver their orders.
At the Baron of Aspern's table, Bonnie the mischievious monkey "entertains" Atilius and Alessia Varro. The troublemaker comes dangerously close to getting her neck broken by Alessia.
After patrons filled their stomachs with food and drink, Culexus The Branded ushered the guests into the auction area. Four decorative coffers were displayed along the stage area - contents unknown. Perhaps Bonnie knew and that was why she spent part of the night attempting to open the locked chests. The auction was a stupendous success! A staggering 580,000 coins were raised during the auction by generous patrons with deep pockets. The proceeds from the auction were donated to The Abbey of Saint Gallus so it will be able to purchase needed medical supplies for proper patient care. Sabrina ensured the coins made their way safely to the Abbey.
Four secured mysterious coffers were offered during a silent auction. Coffer # 1 - a cure for loneliness. Coffer # 2 - an assortment of trinkets to impress the ladies. Coffer # 3 - a moment of happiness. Coffer # 4 - endless entertainment.
Culexus The Branded personally delivered the contents of each coffer to the winning bidders! (A rock, noble's pocket lint, a voucher for a free drink redeemable at The Wolf's Crest Tavern, and a ball of yarn!)
((Special thanks to my wonderful and helpful partner for taking all the pictures for this event! To the player of Culexus The Branded - thank you so much for offering to play a jester and help move the event forward! Additional thanks to the player of Plays-With-Foods for allowing me to release my inner child with the menu! I would also like to thank all the players that attended and made the night a success! )) Spoiler: Addtional Pictures taken by the player of Volund DecentiusShow

A S S I S T A N T - New minds and new hires, a meritocratic approach is imposed on all the people who work for the Margrave. Meritocracy is not only existing for the Guard but for the Athenaeum and other positions among the Margrave's Domestici. These people are the signs of a new start, they are to categorize, provide assistance in retrieval of information and to maintain the Athenaeum in peak conditions.
L I B R A R I A N- The next step and the general guide in the Athenaeum, whilst this sacred repository of knowledge functions as both library and archive. The librarian is the one that leads the indexing of knowledge and guides their assistants to perform their tasks. The librarian is expected to act as a guide and is the final step for those who do not seek to provide and obtain as specialists in their fields.
S P E C I A L I Z A T I O N S
A R C H I V I S T- Individuals that are sent to retrieve ancient artifacts ranging from the Ayleid Welkynd Stones to the machinery of the Dwemer. They are tasked with the retrieval, research, and preservation of these artifacts. It is considered to be the most dangerous position for those working on the Athenaeum on the account of an accidental demise. Yet, these figures are the first to rediscover what was long lost. Truly appealing, to the adventurer.
S C R I P T O R I A N- The scribes of the Athenaeum. When the Margrave comes and brings the last vestiges of ancient texts sacred to the Cyrodiilic children of Tamriel, the Scriptorian is the one who copies and makes sure that the knowledge doesn't disappear. The three banners war has wrought great havoc and caused much to be lost, the Scriptorians are the ones who may save knowledge for the future.
H I S T O R I A N- The fate of honourable exile for the disgraced or defeated politician. The position that a general retires too when he has laid his sword down for good. The historian is a position sponsored personally by the Margrave. The historian is the one who will write the biographies of the distinguished in House Decentius. Tales of honorable deeds and valor, shall not be forgotten. Tales of the adventurers of what was done to save the highlands and heartlands shall be written so that when the bard seeks to make a poem, he may have inspiration if he doesn't want the original. The historian is an important specialization in the Athenaeum. The historian is the one who will make sure that the victories and failures are not forgotten.
G E N E A L O G I S T- A unique position. The genealogist is the one who will trace the bloodlines of Cyrodiil's families where he may prove or discredit the grand schemes of those who seek to rise above their peers without the authority of the Empire's government. The genealogist is also the figures who may study the other elites of blood from the provinces.
Thank you all for reading this. We at House Decentius are happy to offer roles and positions among our Domestici. As time goes on the Athenaeum of Moriens Stella will hopefully be a bastion of knowledge ICly where recovered texts from the Imperial city are copied and preserved. Currently we are looking to make stories and actively employ people seeking to supplant these roles or perform these functions ICly. Please take heed that you don't have to be an officer to run in any of these positions, no matter how high up the chain. Expect more soon!
